nix-alien in nixpkgs

Is there any reason why nix-alien isn't part of nixpkgs? It would be even more convenient to use.

It is easier to me to keep it out of nixpkgs (e.g., I don't want to do releases and and bump them in nixpkgs).

If someone wanted to maintain a package in nixpkgs I wouldn't be against it, but I don't want to be the person maintaining it.
